Our Reverence for
the Natural Environment

Reverence for the natural environment and the forests of Vermont is at the heart of Vermont Wildwoods. It is a part of our founding story and is on display at every stage of our production.

People often ask us if we replant after we cut a tree. Here in the Northern Forest, whenever a tree like a mature Sugar Maple is cut down, an opening is made in the canopy, and light bathes the forest floor encouraging the growth of the new maple seedlings spread by the old tree.

The natural cycle keeps spinning and these young trees race to fill the void left by one we felled. The next generation of crop trees will be ready to cut in 130 years.

We are committed to responsibly managing the forest. By selectively harvesting mature trees, we are encouraging new growth, and are contributing to the sustainable natural cycles of the Northern Forest.
